Empowering diverse, innovative health care professionals is crucial to advancing health equity and expanding access to care. That’s why we invest in diverse future talent and support practicing community clinicians from under-represented communities. We also work to foster an ethos of community engagement and mental health for practicing and future clinicians.
The S.M.I.L.E. (Student Mentoring with Immersive Learning and Enrichment) Healthcare Pathway Program is a partnership between Henry Schein, Inc. the National Dental Association, and other professional associations to help mentor future healthcare professionals, enhance health literacy, expand diversity in the healthcare workforce and ultimately improve health and overall outcomes in underserved communities nationwide.
The program expands each year to historically diverse colleges and universities. This summer program introduces students to careers in oral health, including: dentist, dental hygienist, dental assistant, or dental office administrators.

As Chair of the Gold Foundation Corporate Council, Henry Schein and our partners champion humanistic, compassionate and scientifically excellent care that builds trust between clinicians and patients. This Gold empowers clinicians, students, and leaders across healthcare to create systems that support humanistic care for all. The Gold Foundation established the White Coat Ceremony, an iconic ritual that emphasizes compassionate, collaborative, and scientifically excellent care from the very first day of training in the healthcare professions.
The Henry Schein Cares Foundation supports the creation of interactive, web-based, low- or no-cost, CME-eligible learning modules that provide clinicians with knowledge and tools to reduce gun violence, including suicide, and promote equity.
The Henry Schein Cares Foundation partners with AADOM to sponsor the Green Leader Initiative which empowers dental office members to adopt greener practices, reduce environmental impact, and realize cost benefits from waste reduction and eco-friendly products. It also helps office managers connect with the growing market of wellness lifestyle patients.
